FAYEMI CONGRATULATES NATIONAL BEST TEACHER, ASUBIOJO
Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has congratulated Mr Henry Olaoluwa Asubiojo, a teacher at Amoye Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti, who emerged the Best Teacher in the country on Monday.
Mr Asubiojo, who was Ekiti State Best Teacher (Secondary School category) in 2019, was announced National Best Teacher in Abuja on Monday as part of activities marking the 2020 World Teachers’ Day.
Governor Fayemi in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, described Asubiojo’s feat as “ highly commendable and heart warming”.
The Governor said he was not surprised at the feat because Asubiojo, had demonstrated the stuff he was made of having emerged the Best Teacher (secondary school category) in Ekiti State, in 2019.
“Excellence, hard work, honesty, honour, integrity are part of the Ekiti values that this administration is restoring in the collective efforts to reposition the state.
“The emergence of Mr Asubiojo as the Best teacher at the national level further reinforces our belief that excellence would always be recognised and celebrated.” Dr Fayemi said.
The Governor said his administration would continue to provide enabling environment and platforms for Ekiti sons and daughters to excel in their chosen areas of human endeavours.
Noting that the administration has made huge investments in education, Governor Fayemi said he is happy that the results are showing in the quality of students and teachers in the state’s public schools.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Ekiti State, I congratulate Mr Asubiojo, our worthy ambassador, for this remarkable feat. We look forward to more good news of remarkable achievements from our citizens, even as our government continues to provide conducive environment for citizens to exhibit their God- given talents.” The Governor said.

The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved N2.9 billion contracts for the printing of sensitive and non-sensitive examination materials.
The council also approved N1.6bn for the rehabilitation and upgrade of some roads within the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The decisions were taken at the council’s meeting presided over by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu; and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello, briefed State House correspondents at the end of the meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Adamu said the printing contracts were awarded to a group of eight printers.
According to the minister, the materials are meant for the Basic Education Certification Examination, the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, and the National Common Entrance, adding that “because of the recent disturbances, we have postponed the examinations that have not taken place.”
Bello, on his part, said the roads to be rehabilitated are located in the satellite towns of the FCT.
He said the council approved N900,294,304.75 to fix the roads in Gwagwalada Area Council while N719,407,086.38 was approved for the Kwali Area Council rural roads.
According to him, the Gwagwalada contract was awarded to Messrs Teleview International Nigeria Limited with a completion period of six months while that of Kwali was awarded to Messrs Sahabi Liman Sons Nigeria Limited also for a completion period of six months.
Meanwhile, before the meeting went into a closed session, the President administered oath of office on Isa Kwarra as the Chairman of National Population Commission.
Other members of the commission who also took oaths of office are: Ibrahim Mohammed, (Bauchi); Ayodeji Ajayi (Ekiti); Joseph Kwai Shazin, (FCT); Garba A. Garba (Jigawa); Bala Banya, (Katsina); Razaq Gidado, (Kwara); Mrs Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, (Lagos); and Ali Agara (Nasarawa).
Others are in Muhammed Dottijo, (Sokoto); Mai Mohammad (Yobe), and Muhammadu Rini (Zamfara).

The West African Examinations Council has said the results of the 2020 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination would be released next week .
The results were supposed to be out today but the examination body said the postponement was due to the violence and arson in the country which affected some of its offices and some of its operations nationwide.
The unrest experienced in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protests against police brutality had forced governments to impose curfew in their respective states.
“ WASSCE SC 2020 Results Release Date: Dear candidates, the Council had planned to release the results today in fulfilment of our Project 45 but due to the curfew imposed last week , it had to be postponed till next week .
“ The exact date will be made known soon ,” @waecnigeria tweeted on Wednesday .
When contacted, the Head of Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria , Demianus Ojijeogu , confirmed the development.
Ojijeogu told that the examination body ’s “ Calabar Office , in Cross River State was looted , vandalised and burnt down by hoodlums. ”
The West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination was taken between August 17 , 2020 and Saturday , September 12 , and the council was expected to release the results on October 27 – 45 days after .

West Africa Exam Council Nigerian Chapter have disclosed on it Twitter on 27th October 2020 that the planned to release WASSCE SC 2020 result on Tuesday 27th October 2020 in fulfillment with their 45 project but due to curfew imposed last week the time was hindered and yet to redecided, the time will be know soon.
